About Us

Artz4 is to be an active centre of engagement with different disciplines of contemporary art, inclusively or exclusively of: fine arts, video, sound art, performance art, visual arts, theatre, dance, music, film, writing, happenings, gastronomy, pop-up events, digital arts, design, architecture, illustration, and media broadcasting.

Both locally anchored and internationally established, Artz4 offers an enriching contact point opening up new perspectives for all who are engaged in art.

Aims and Objectives

Collaboration and Presentation

Artz4 organises exhibitions of international contemporary art at regular intervals, with all branches of the contemporary arts being represented. Artz4 works on projects and topics. The work is not profit-oriented, but is based on the autonomous structure of studio galleries.

Various regular series introduce and work with performers, musicians, dancers, filmmakers, writers, visual artists, designers as well as scholars and theoreticians.

Facilitation and Mediation

Artz4 develops its own interdisciplinary teaching program consisting of
lectures, workshops and symposia, and publishes publications.

One focus of the mediation is the work with children and adolescents in the form of workshops and happenings. This may include working with artists (in fields like painting or drawing, theatre, music, creative writing, design). Alternatively, Artz4 facilitates local educational programs, concepts for workshops for quarter management, specific neighbourhood projects, social-artistic projects with marginalised disadvantaged groups, and collaboration with schools and educational programs, integrating artists and residents.

Festivals of different cultural backgrounds can become the starting point for artistic action. On the one hand, this creates the possibility of intercultural exchange in a district that is characterised by the coexistence of people of varying cultural backgrounds. On the other hand, existing inhibitions and reservations about contemporary art can be reduced, and opportunities for new encounters can be offered.

Institutional Collaboration

Artz4 cooperates with the municipal cultural and art institutions of the city and provides a space with interesting project groups, festivals and art events.

Artz4 maintains local, national and international partnerships with suitable, like-minded institutions as well as with curators, sponsors, patrons and foundations.

Artz4 uses temporary programs and mobile branches for given projects and expands into public space.

Intercultural Dialogue and Exchange

Artz4 is building up an archive of cultural instigators who facilitate events, which are available to the public for free use.
Artz4 organizes open studio tours or visits, interactive artist meetings, and artist exchange programs alongside interdisciplinary art festivals, locally as well as internationally.

Outreach
Locally, Artz4 organizes events in Berlin, such as: exhibitions, performances, concerts, conferences, workshops, lectures, film and video screenings, readings, presentations, pop-up events, discussions (think-tanks), local neighbourhood programs. Artz4 targets audiences such as children, youth, women, elderly, LGBT-QI, multi- and intercultural communities etc.

Internationally, Artz4 facilitates projects focusing on migration, resettlement, social and ethnic marginalisation, gentrification on global scale, urbanisation, economics, ecology and sustainability.

Artz4 partners and collaborates, nationally and internationally, with universities, foundations, research centres, art institutions, cultural institutions, artist-run spaces, initiatives, as well as non-profit organisations.
